The first grade students arrive at school excited to have breakfast and a read aloud story. School is a place where they have consistency, safety and a sense of belonging. I teach in a Title 1 school where all students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Although students sometimes may have difficult home lives, they strive to do their best to become lifelong learners. The students do not let anything stand in their way on their path to success.
