I have 21 students this year who love reading, but often need help to stay focused and continue learning. We have very supportive parents at our school who come in once or twice a week to help our readers during our literacy block. We do not have any reading specialists at our school, however, to help with interventions or enrichments. Many of our students have access to the reading programs at home, but our struggling students do not have the same technology. Some of our students do not get any kind of reading or math practice at home after school. They understand basic foundational concepts of reading and math, but suffer from a lack of practice in order to achieve grade appropriate fluency. I also have one student in a wheelchair who struggles to share his work when he has to move from his desk to the front of the room in order to share his work on the projector.
