I have 40 students in my classroom - a great big class. The students come from tough neighborhoods. Few have very little experience with the outside world. They can only connect with what they have been around or taught, so hooking them with great hands on math/science activities is critical. They need concrete objects an academic experiences that they can connect to. We need to create life long learners.
