I teach a group of 23 second graders at a school in a very large school district in North Carolina. Our school is very diverse with many students who come from very poor backgrounds. Many of these children are very bright, but attend a school with few technological resources to enhance their learning. Though more technology is spreading throughout the classrooms in our school, our classroom has yet to receive any of these additional resources. Currently, our classroom has three desktop computers, an overhead projector, and a projector I share with eight other teachers. Some of the other classrooms in our school have interactive whiteboards, but our classroom does not. However, these interactive whiteboards are already beginning to phase out, and an iPad hooked up to a LCD projector is becoming more popular.
