Please join me in showing these 6th grade struggling readers that they can succeed. All they need is your help. With the right tools they will be able to read. The problem facing these students is that they are all below a 6th grade reading level and they feel frustrated because they can't begin to read a 6th grade textbook. After giving the students reading tests to determine their fluency rates and reading levels, I realized I need to help them with their decoding skills while working on lower level reading comprehension. In order to do these, I need additional resources in my classroom beside the standard textbook. The resources I have chosen will allow the students to raise their self-esteem by being able to read. In addition, they will increase their comprehension skills because they can answer questions and discuss the stories they read using critical thinking skills.
