I am a middle school social studies and ELA teacher at a small town school in rural south central Oklahoma. Paoli HS/MS is a school of roughly 80 students in grades 9-12, and 45 students in grades 6-8. Students are from varied socioeconomic backgrounds. All middle school and high school students are in the same building and teachers teach multiple grade levels and subjects. The town and school are a close knit community and also the school mascot is one of a kind in the nation. The Paoli Pugs are the only school with a Pug for a mascot. Being apart of Pug Nation is great and the students excel academically even though they don't have the resources that many other schools in the state and country have access to use in the classroom. We make it work with what we got and always look to find ways to do more and be successful in and out of the classroom.
