The students in my classes are fantastic people. Each one comes from different circumstances and home environments. Some come from insecure home settings and really just want a place in which they feel at home knowing that someone cares about them as individuals. Others come from stable family environments and are the captain of the football team or president of the student council. They learn to work with each other in our classroom, students that perhaps wouldn't have even met at any other time during the school day. At first they have a desire to fix and eat food but when the semester is finished they have a love for cooking, creating, and enjoying the fruits of their labor in the kitchen. Our school is a consolidated four community school that has come together over the past four years and is truly thriving. The teachers and administration really care about the kids and what happens to them in all areas of their lives.
