All children are special; therefore, all students are special. The term "Special Education" is used in most school districts throughout our country to label students with special needs; however, all students have needs that are special, regardless of their strengths and weaknesses. Nonetheless, there are specific students with specific learning disabilities and other health impairments, which require the need for a unique learning environment. These are the students to whom I provide the required state standards, inspiration, hope, and self-confidence (among many other necessities). My students are amazing human beings who strive on a daily basis to make progress with respect to the goals and objectives, which are part of their Individual Education Plans. I am proud to be a special education teacher at a neighborhood school, with a very tight and active community. I would describe my school as a happy, peaceful place where children enter the doors each day excited to learn and interact.
