A rich classroom library is the heartbeat of every great ELA classroom. My students have the opportunity to read independently every single day from books of their own choosing. It is my desire to provide texts that will truly enable students to make connections between our world, their lives, and those around them. Together, each student will meet individually with me for conferring sessions on a regular basis. We will explore, question, appreciate and analyze. As they dive into great works of literature my students will also aim to model the craft of great writers in their own work, cultivating the writing process through seed ideas, drafts, and a final expression of their individuality. These texts are the thread that will be interwoven throughout our curriculum, providing the basis for all reading, writing, and discussion.
