My kindergarteners love the stories I read to them. They long to have these books available to read on their own but unfortunately there are not enough copies available to us. They don't mind sharing but it is hard for 23 students to share 1 book. We need 7 copies of each title. This will allow each table to have a book tub of familiar story books that they can read independently. These emergent readers are excited and ready to read. They are anxiously anticipating the day that I can place their new books at their tables. They can't wait to get their favorite storybooks into their hands. My students are already falling in love with books and I want to make sure that they have the opportunity to fulfill the desire they have to read. I want them to go places where only books can take them.
