While I am a seventh and eighth grade mathematics teacher, it is my belief that we are all responsible for fostering a love of the planet in our students in whatever way possible. Our seventh grade team of teachers, with the help of many volunteers, sponsors an outdoor camp each year to foster this love of the outdoors. We live in an environment where many of our students do not have the experiences this camp provides. This camp is also a release and a reward for our students. Outdoor camp follows our state-mandated testing and is a great way to reward the students for working hard while fostering a love of the outdoors at the same time.
