Everyone has an occasional off-day. This is even tougher for a young child who may not have the vocabulary or the skills to properly express and handle what they are feeling. This project will allow me to create a calm, safe place where children can work through their challenges with me and learn how to better deal with them in the future. The calming corner will have a carpet, pillows for sitting, a small library, stress tools, and counseling support from me. Developing strong coping skills will help children to be more successful in school and in life. Additionally, it will lead to greater self-confidence and an overall sense of happiness and well-being.
