Kindergarteners are naturally excited about learning, at our Title One School, where 38% of the students come from low-income families. My students love building with Lego's, blocks, and the marble maze. They are concrete learners, and learn through interacting with things. We have a strong school community, that believes in giving back to the community. Each grade level, in our K-5 project-based school, involves students in an activity that supports the community, environment, or others in need. The charter school is located in an urban district, where many of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Funding is tight in school. However, students still need the chance to wonder, and to learn to think creatively, to solve problems, and to learn skills to apply to real life situations.
