I am an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher at Allderdice High School, in the Pittsburgh Public School District. Allderdice is a large and diverse school, representing a variety of communities and cultural backgrounds. All of my students speak English as their second language. Some of the languages represented in my classroom are Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian. I teach Entering and Beginning levels of ESL, so most of my students are very new to the country and speak very limited English. All of my students are eager to learn English so they can succeed in school, earn a high school diploma, and pursue their goals after high school.
