My students range from the classroom diva to the one who questions everything I do. This is why I LOVE my job. My kids are the reason why I am laughing as I am working. My school is a low income school. The vast majority of students are on free or reduced lunch and go home to homes in which parents are struggling to get by. However, this is a very family oriented community. The parents try to help out as much as possible, but many parents can only provide the bare essentials. The parents are very much involved with the academics and showing up for after school activities and wish they could do more financially. I have a variety of learners. Students that are beginning to learn phonics and others that are on their way to reading novel after novel. These students need a variety of reading materials and classroom materials that can aid their reading growth and captivate their interest in reading and the larger world.
