Our grade level rotates classroom teachers three times a week during our science and social studies block. This allows the students to experience 2 different science disciplines and one social study discipline throughout the year. One area of study is the NGSS standard for Earth's Changing Surface. The supplies purchased will not only help my classroom, but all of the grade 2 classrooms in our school. They will help reinforce and visually cue geology concepts by using and creating models for learning. The various items requested will help our students understand how tectonic plates move about and affect the formation of the earth. The minerals will help our students study matter and their properties. It will also give our students real examples of the different products that are part of the rock cycle on earth.
