I teach in a small district, with two hundred kids in the entire district, at most. My classes are small, and the kids have had each other in the same classes since kindergarten. T hey're like a family, very close knit and hard working, helping each other along the way. And, they're starving for activities to express themselves. I started the DIY class for them because the district doesn't offer art, and every student wanted to take it. When working on projects they're so dedicated and hard working and completely respectful to me and to each other. They want to learn, they want to make things. But, the school doesn't offer any funding for the class. As a first year teacher I'm having trouble affording supplies for them all. Since most of my students are below the poverty line, they can't do much to help. They're so hard working and understanding, always more then willing to do the best we can with what little we have. I couldn't ask for better students.
