My students are mostly from low-income, working families. I have one-third of my class with IEPs, some severe, needing full time support. We have limited funds in the budget to supply the items that we need in our classroom. These items will support reading and math stations as well as, be usable during indoor recess. Other supplies I've asked for will be used for art projects to find more ways to include the severely handicapped students in the work that we are doing. Each of the items requested has dual purposes and can be used for both academic areas and other times such as recess. I would describe my school as an amazing community of learners, where kids love coming to school and teachers come back year after year despite the challenges we face. We have many challenges, particularly budgetary,m but we work as a team to strive to always give students a well-rounded education and a place they want to come to.
