Flexible seating allows students to think about how they like to learn. It gives them a choice to sit in a different spot in the classroom, changes up their usual routine, and allows them to collaborate with other students who are excited to choose their seating method. These yoga meditation cushions, round dish chairs, clipboards, and lapdesks in my classroom will have norms and procedures and students will appreciate that they will oftentimes have a choice in their group seating or individual seating. It will be great for after school club students as well, who may have sat all day in student desks and just want to "chill" as they work with their club.
