My students come from different backgrounds, some are refugees from other countries, some come from broken families, while others would have no idea what their peers deal with each day. Our school is very large, with 1500 students in all three grades. The drama department has been growing and now holds about 170 students. The school has never had a budget for this department, so much of the funding comes from the teacher or generous parents who volunteer time. They all love to perform and look forward to the moments to shine on the stage with family and friends in the audience to support them. Being a part of drama is like joining a family that sticks together and supports each other as they step into some vulnerable parts of themselves.
