I work at a charter school in Detroit with a 97% Hispanic population. My students are expected to learn the academic material of a first grader while lacking proficiency in English. Many of my students come from homes where their parents did not complete school, but desire the best for their children. Our school works hard to help our families overcome these barriers. We hold parent workshops, afterschool clubs, as well as many afterschool family/community activities. Everything we do is done to help our students reach their highest potential and offer them a safe and enjoyable learning experience.

About my class
