Doreen Rappaport has written 11 biographies on influential people in history. We will use these books to study her writing style in her biographies. She spins her tales with an integration of accompanying quotes and illustrations that leads readers to better know the people they are reading about. My students will choose some of her techniques as they write a biography picture book of their own. They will go through the writing process after they have completed extensive research to get to know their inspirational person. They will also illustrate their books and go through the publishing process so they can be shared with our school.
