Do you remember what it is like when you were trying to concentrate in class, but couldn't due to the continuous sweat dripping down your body? I teach science to 10th and 11th graders, who actually have to move around the classroom actively during labs. When they are sticking to the seats and are drained of energy from the heat, the task at hand, difficult to begin with, gets exponentially more difficult. My school is in California and is inland, where temperatures recently exceeded 90 for two weeks straight. There is no budget for AC, and the ceiling fans don't cut it, especially in my classroom on the second floor.
