My students are 90% English Language Learners with very little English vocabulary. They are extremely motivated but deal with home displacements, high turn around rate, multiple family homes, poverty, parents with mental illness, and I have an overflow students all year. I currently have 33 students in first grade. The majority of our parents do not discuss their family issues and are very grateful and appreciative towards our teaching staff. Our parents do not have the means to help with money or classroom volunteering hours, but extend their home and take work hom. Ours is a kinder through 5th grade school and serves almost 1,200 students! We have to send students who live in the neighborhood to nearby school because we are overflowing with students. Our staff is amazing. All our staff, office, custodians, cafeteria workers and teachers, give 200% starting from day one to the very last day of school. We have to be the number one school in both collaboration and time spent planning.
