My school is located in the middle of the south Bronx. When my students first started high school, many of them did not like science or thought it was very difficult. Through the chemistry kits, I seek to better their understanding of science. Many of them thought science was a useless subject, until we began to actually do experiments and explore our own curiosity in the lab. With these kits, I plan to use their curiosity to push them further in the classroom. We do not have much materials and have currently been using materials we can buy at target or materials we currently have. My students always look for more experiments and more labs. They thrive for more knowledge and for tangible chemistry. They find research and investigations to be the best part about the science classroom, since it is not something they get to experience in other classes.
