These seating options will encourage my students to create their own personal and safe space within my classroom. The students lack their own space within their homes and personal lives, therefore giving them this opportunity for their own space will improve their desire to be in the classroom and learn. Everything already has a home and space in my classroom, it simply needs to come through the door. The Urban seats will find a home in groups of three on either side of the classroom so students can collaborate with one another in comfort. The floor mats will find their home around a floor table where they can collaborate in a comfortable, coffeehouse setting in teams of four to six. The large floor mats will be used by students who need more individual, personal space and who work better independently. Lastly, the rug will be used for students who work best when they have freedom over their body position. This will find its home next to the classroom library.
