My students are the largest bunch of excited eight year olds I could have ever imagined! Every day during our read aloud, each and every one of them is engaged and asking more questions in order to more deeply understand the text, and everyday when the read aloud is over there is always audible groaning and begging to continue. This being said, many of the students are far from proficient readers and need accessibility to a library where they have many books on their level that they feel comfortable reading at their own pace. They all have a variety of interest and love coming up to me and telling me what they have learned in their most recent read. I notice a certain confidence that comes with how often they read and how they feel about talking about their opinions and their ideas.
