My students come mostly from a low socioeconomic background. Some of my students are homeless and a few are experiencing school for the very first time. They are often unable to bring daily necessities to school such as backpacks and pencils. My students definitely bring a positive attitude to the classroom even though the circumstances they are dealing with outside of class are not ideal. My school is located in a low socioeconomic neighborhood. The school provides students with some of the basic necessities possible in order to get students through the day, such as a meal before school or basic school supplies. Though my school does its best to provide for students, resources are still scarce and at times, it is up to the teacher to provide what the school cannot. Violence is not uncommon in this neighborhood, so the staff does its best to support those students who have experienced traumatic events.
