My students are very happy and eager to learn, however it is a very low income school district and most of them do not come to school with the basic school supplies needed. This does not hold them back from making the most of their education. As a teacher, it is heartbreaking to see my students coming into school at the beginning of the year with old clothes, book bags and school supplies from last year or with nothing at all. Simple things like crayons, markers, and colored folders will not only enhance their learning and their ability to keep themselves organized and engaged it will also boost their self esteem by making them feel like they too deserve nice, new school supplies.
