Our area consists primarily of farming and manufacturing. The students at our school are very mechanical and like things that are hands-on. With continued automation and outsourcing the county has one of the highest unemployment rates in our state. All the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch through a federal grant program for high need areas. Students at our school are very talented and willing, they just need opportunity. Our district is working hard to prepare students for the 21st century. I integrate a lot of technology and computer science into my math classes to make them more engaging and relevant for students. Some of my students have wanted the opportunity to learn more about computer science and work on more involved projects. This year I created a STEM club to give students an opportunity to explore math, science and technology outside of the classroom.
