The goods purchased will provide student the opportunity to take part in practicing first hand medical examinations screenings and promote self awareness. Students will be tasked to investigate problem based learning, in order to come up with a solution to reduce pressing health issues in their communities. One of the leading cause of death in the United States is Heart Disease, which is preventable through self awareness and care. Students will be responsible for promoting awareness in their community of South Central Los Angeles.
In addition to learning about diseases and body systems. Students will also be participating in agricultural and environmental studies. One of these approaches will include students actively maintaining a garden, which will include crops that can be used to sustain a healthy life style. Similarly, students will learn about the human impacts on their environments, focusing on different forms of pollution. The ultimate goal will be to reach out to city officials to promote different programs that support active and healthy lifestyles opportunities.
