With school and libraries closed during the pandemic, many students did not have access to books or magazines, other than app based sites. My students want to be able hold books and magazines in their hands! The Scholastic News magazines will provide them with current events and science articles they can take home to reread and discuss with their families. Nonfiction text is a valuable resource for any reader. The vocabulary and text features are an integral part of 5th grade and I believe my students would benefit from having them.
