My students are predominately African-American and Hispanic from low socio-economic backgrounds. They do not have the resources available at home to develop the love of reading. They are motivated to do well in school and enjoy engaging, hands on instruction. My school is a leadership academy where we teach students to be leaders in their own life and in their community. The students are taught values that they can use for the rest of their lives and become better, more productive citizens.
