My students are 11 and 12 year old 6th graders. These students live in a very diverse community and some are from low socioeconomic homes. Not all of my students have access to books outside of school, and a love for reading starts in school. Some read below grade level and are often disinterested in reading because they are frustrated or embarrassed by their skills. Others love to read and enjoy when their teacher suggests new books and showcases books in the classroom library. All of my students enjoy when we have a class set of books to read and analyze together.
