My 7/8th Grade Science classrooms are comprised of students from diverse cultures. Many of my students show a keen interest in all things having to do with technology. In addition, they LOVE a challenge. When they got the opportunity to use Spheros, a robotic sphere, it was the perfect combination. To them they were playing a game with a friend, but to me, this activity was a lesson in collaboration, coding, and engineering design. When I saw that Verizon would match donations for technology, I jumped at the chance to buy a classroom set of the robotic sphere, BOLT, SPHEROS' bigger brother. My students would truly appreciate another break from the usual curriculum to "play" with BOLT!
