It is critical to help young children be ready for school by working with them to develop early literacy skills and learning skills. Because strong reading skills form the basis for learning in all subjects, it is important to identify those who may struggle with reading as early as possible. These materials will help me build on my students language and literacy development. The students will be able to build on their oral language skills, and check out books to use at home with their families. The more child experiences with language and literacy, the more likely they will develop early reading skills that will help them later on in life. Having more books will allow my students to use them in different learning centers. By having generous donors I can use the books to teach my students early reading skills. The books and bookshelf will also help build a classroom library. We need more books in our class library for the students use for reading and language development. I am requesting a broad range of literature titles for my PreK class. I also need a flannel board/dry erase easel so the children can interact with flannel stories.
