The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The large carpet will be placed in the front of the classroom and used as a gathering place during mini-lessons and share time. In Math, we gather for a number talk, then go into our main lesson. This carpet will serve as their vehicle to new content and math strategies. Little people need to move. From the carpet they will go back to their desks, to try the skill taught. This offers the students choices and opportunities for movement, something that has gone away in public school lately. The chairs offer opportunity for those students that need to move while learning but stay seated. So many of our learners come from special needs and this will help them tremendously.
