Do you remember using headphones that only work in one ear? Or headphones that make it so loud so all the people around you can hear your cheesy 80s songs? My students don't exactly use headphones in the classroom for music but find them necessary to complete many technologically influenced learning activities. My students are inquisitive and determined learners that need access to becoming fluent in using academic technology based programs. In the classroom we use engaging programs that enhance typing skills, math fluency, reading comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and digital citizenship. Many of my students do not have access to reliable headphones to use during the school day. This prevents them from acquiring basic skills that computer programs help to build.
