The basketball goals and balls will help with gross motor skills and eye-hand coordination. These items will provide an opportunity for our pre-k class to engage in physical activity that can have both immediate and long-term benefits on academic performance. Almost immediately after engaging in physical activity, children are better able to concentrate on classroom tasks, which can enhance learning. Over time, as children engage in developmentally appropriate physical activity, their improved physical fitness can produce many additional positive effects on their academic performance in areas of study such as mathematics, reading, and writing. Recent evidence shows how children who participate in physical activity greatly improve their ability to pay attention and learn. I want to provide my class with every opportunity possible to meet their physical and educational needs. Our playground is a small place and we have very little equipment for all the children to play on at one time. The addition of this basketball goal with multi-goals and balls will add to our play area and children's enjoyment.
