My goal is to ensure that students are college and career ready. Literacy is the foundation of their success. Every student will not attend college and planting the seed now to help develop career skills is essential. Our school has a ratio of 1 computer for 3 students. I teach 145 students in an urban middle school in Atlanta. Each day through centers, differentiated instruction and technology resources students are actively engaged in learning. My middle school students are extremely social and energetic. Most are highly motivated and gifted in literacy while others struggle with reading and writing skills. My biggest challenge is students who have mastered the skill and want to do extended activities or students who did not master the skill and need additional help outside of the classroom. My school can be described as culturally diverse with varied socioeconomic groups of students. Our current enrollment is 1100 students.
