My students are English Language learners, meaning English is their second language. They range from brand new to the country to being born in the United States and growing up in a Spanish only household. These students start school significantly behind their English speaking peers. They represent many different countries such as El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran to just name a few! The students I work with are hard working, eager and grateful for everything and every opportunity they are given. The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch and breakfast. I am a Reading Specialist and have an EL endorsement. I also have endorsements in Special Education, Middle School English, Social Studies and High School Social Sciences. While I have taught many different students in my career and held many different positions, I find this group of students to be the most rewarding because they are hard working, eager and grateful for the opportunity.
