I teach Social Studies to high school students grades 9-12. Swallows Charter Academy is a small K-12 school that uses Core Knowledge curriculum in grades K-8 and provides an Early College Prep program that allows our high school students to earn an Associates degree and a high school diploma at the same time! We are challenged by our environment (our facilities include an old renovated grocery store and modular building) and lack of materials, but are proud of our high achieving, successful students who find and grasp opportunities to learn excel! Opportunities for field trips are limited by funding and most field trips have to be paid for out of pocket by our students' families, many of whom cannot afford it.
