My 19 students with autism are contently seeking sensory experiences to help regulate their bodies and minds. They need sensory breaks in order to focus on learning and refrain from misbehaving and often unsafe physical activities such as extreme jumping off the furniture, pushing, kicking and throwing their bodies on the floor. The sensory house would be a safe outlet for my students to help control their sensory cravings and take necessary breaks in between educational tasks. The sensory house would extremely benefit our young learners and could serve as a powerful motivator to work hard to get meaningful and needed breaks. The house would help address the sensory needs of our students so that teachers can focus on their academic and social skills. The project would impact the current students and many more in the upcoming years. We would open the sensory experience to other students with special needs at our school. Thank you for your interest in our projects. Our students have disabilities but with the right equipment, strategies and the support of wonderful donors like you, they can be successful and overcome their challenges.
