My students are 6th and 7th graders that are highly energetic and excited to learn. The school consists of about 600 students coming from an middle to upper middle class neighborhood. I've been teaching for 18 years now and one thing that rings true for my school is that the students are enthusiastic and have a strong desire for knowledge. As many schools in other districts have iPads regularly available for their students, my school has a limited number as we are small and technology funding is not regularly available. In order to use them, we have to sign up for an iPad cart that all classes have access to and more often than not, it is being used by another teacher. Having iPads specifically designated to my class will complement my teaching to a level much higher than without them. The iPads are excellent tools for developing scientific skills in problem solving, presenting information and collaborating.
