My students disabilities range from cerebral palsy, autism, Down's syndrome and other cognitive and health impairments. Along with the aforementioned disabilities, I have many students that also exhibit socio-emotional issues. Despite each students disability, they all possess great strengths and a knack for learning. Each one has their own individual personality that make them special and wonderful in their own way. Some are funny and enjoy dancing and catching bubbles, while others are tech savvy and try to new ways to navigate the technology we have available. Although most of my students are non-verbal, we find other ways of communicating, mostly through the use of pictures, symbols and gesturing. My school is a public school in which we have a small special education population in the midst of a very large general education population.
