We were informed at the end of the last school year that Oklahoma City is cutting teacher positions and as a result, class sizes will increase in the fall. I anticipate 25 or more students for the 2016-2017 school years. With the reduced space, it would more advantageous to transition to tables. They could double as learning centers and improve traffic flow in the classroom. Therefore, I am seeking grant money to purchase five, 6 foot tables for my classroom. Also, in the midst of budget cuts, we are losing classroom resources, including workbooks, textbooks etc. Copies have also been curtailed due to associated printing costs. The daily journals (workbooks) are a significant part of the daily routine through which assignments and home study are built around. My class would greatly benefit from grant money to purchase journals for both the Mathematics and Language subjects. I believe in the children’s ability to grow and learn and I am committed to do what I can to make this process happen. I would greatly appreciate your consideration in this regard.
