Most of my ELL (English Language Learners) students come from poverty, abuse and broken homes, and it takes a lot to make them believe that their life has a meaning and purpose, and empower them to succeed despite all the adversities. They are very different from the general population of our school, yet they are trying very hard to fit in as well as manage school and work. My students bring diversity to our building and make our school as real and colorful as United States itself.
