My students are a microcosm of my community. They are eager, willing, endearing and witty. They also experience the challenges common to many as a result of social and economic circumstances. Despite these challenges, they believe that through hard work and preparation, they will be successful. My school is nestled in a wooded neighborhood and is a community school. I have been teaching at my school for 19 years and have seen it change in many ways. What has not changed is the commitment the staff and faculty have towards the students and their success. The culture of the school is one that ensures that all students achieve high academic standards, personal and civic responsibility and a lifelong commitment to learning.
