My class is a special day class and I teach fourth and fifth grade. With special day classes comes a variety of strengths and weaknesses, specifically in academics. I have the students for two years and get to know them quite well and they also get to know me quite well. The students have difficulty with reading, reading comprehension and some, but not all, with fluency and mathematics. Their IEP goals are what guide their learning. My belief and what I try to instill in my students is that they can do whatever they want but it will take hard work and perseverance. The goal is for them to become independent learners and that all students need to push themselves to become all around learners.
