Our students come from different cultures, countries, backgrounds and economic status. For many of my students, English is a second language and for some English is not used at home. There are families who do not have the means to purchase school supplies for their child. There is a limited budget for supplies needed in the classroom and it becomes an out of pocket expense for the teacher. The students get extremely excited about new supplies and resources for the room. Making learning fun is important for the growth and success of my students. In my classroom we celebrate diversity and explore other cultures. Taking the time to understand what makes us different and what we have in common help us to bond and form relationships. Our school provides more than an education, it is a place where our students can count on two meals a day, love, support and structure.
